I Built an AI Content Site in 48 Hours. Here’s What Actually Happened.

I want to be straight with you: this is not a success story yet. It’s a 48-hour progress report. Real numbers, real process, no hype.

Here’s what I built, what it cost, what’s working, and what I’d do differently.

The setup

WordPress on Namecheap EasyWP: .99/month. Domain: /year. Cloudflare in front of it: free. That’s the whole infrastructure cost – under to start.

The plan: publish buying-intent content targeting “best X for Y” and “X vs Y” keywords in the AI tools niche. Embed affiliate links naturally. Let Google index it. Post X threads driving early traffic while SEO builds.

What took longer than expected

DNS configuration. If you use Cloudflare with Namecheap EasyWP, you need to manually point the A record to your EasyWP server IP – it doesn’t happen automatically. Add two hours to your setup if you’re doing the same thing.

WordPress REST API also requires pretty permalinks to be enabled. Default WordPress installs ship with plain permalinks, which breaks the API. Five minutes to fix, zero documentation warning you it’s an issue.

What’s live

One published post. Five posts in draft. Affiliate applications submitted to four programs (Frase.io, VEED.io, beehiiv, Copy.ai). One affiliate link already live – beehiiv approved same day.

What I’d do differently

Apply to affiliate programs before the site goes live. Most have a 1-3 day review period. I’m currently publishing content with placeholder links waiting for approvals – inefficient. Should have started the applications a week earlier.

The honest timeline

Zero revenue for 60-90 days. Google doesn’t trust new domains. That’s not a flaw in the plan – it’s just how SEO works. The operators making -10k/month from this model started 12 months ago. You plant seeds now or you’re jealous later.
